On January 31, 15 ECI skiers left frigid Manitoba at 5:45 am and headed west to warmer temperatures. Panorama was the destination. As we travelled across the provinces, the temperatures gradually increased to close to zero and it actually reached + 6 in Medicine Hat! We arrived in Panorama later in the evening and settled into our rooms for the night. It began snowing overnight sometime and we awoke to 4 inches of fresh snow. Some of our skiers made first tracks on the newly covered runs at 8:30 am.
It snowed all day and continued into the night. By Saturday morning, the snow had stopped and the sun came out. Approximately 37 centimetres of snow had fallen on the mountain (more in some places)! This made for an awesome day of skiing. Sunday was a bit cooler (about - 8 C). Still a fine day with some fresh snow still on the groomed runs. We skied only until about noon this day and packed up to head back home. It was another successful trip, and plans are being made for Panorama 2020.
